- Television Decoder Circuitry Act of 1990
- TVs with screens 13-inch or greater <br />must have decoder built in
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 1993
- Government-funded public service announcements (PSAs) must be captioned
- Telecommunications Act of 1996
- Administered by FCC (Federal Communications Commission)
